The Online Catalog allows you to search the contents of the Hardin County Library from anywhere. You can search by title, author, subject, or keyword. There are advanced search options as well.

Computers
Computers will be used for searching library materials and for patron research. Even though these computers have floppy drives (3 ½ inch) on them, these drives are not for public use except in the case of downloading articles if the program permits it and then only if the disk is furnished by the library at a small cost. Disk will not be brought back and reloaded. These restrictions are necessary to control viruses.
There will be a charge of fifteen cents per printed page.
On some programs, the articles can be downloaded to a floppy disk. If a patron wants to use this command, the 3 ½ floppy disks can only be used if they are provided by the library, at a cost of $1.00 per disk. This is for articles only and not for programs. Program copying would result in copyright violation and is not allowed.
The computers are here mainly for research. The computers are not toys. No one will be allowed to play on them and they may be monitored by staff.
Three public access terminals will be designated for computerized card catalog use only.
All computer work and printing must be finished fifteen minutes before closing.
- There are eleven PAC computers for the public to check e-mail or search the web for information. You must read and sign policies before being allowed on these computers.
- There are two computers for research only in the Reference Department.
- There are four computers with games in the Children's Area.
- There are two PAC computers in the Children's Area used by parents with children using the library.
- There is one game computer in Young Adult area.
- There is one computer with Hooked on Phonics and other educational programs in the Young Adult area.
Internet Rules
- Children under 14 years must have parent or legal guardian on site during Internet session.
- Each child and parent must sign consent form in presence of library personnel.
- Every user must sign a log before and after each session. Parents must supervise child’s Internet session.
- One hour blocks of time are scheduled.
- Reservations no earlier than one week in advance.
- Library staff will assist as time permits, but no personal instruction.
- No downloading from Internet.
- Copyright laws and licensing agreements must be adhered to.
- Behavior which may jeopardize the library’s account will result in revocation of Internet privileges at the library.
- These rules are subject to change. If and when, those changes will be posted.
- All copies are 15 cents per page.
